I've been away from the blog for quite a while now but I'm hoping to get back into it some. I can't say how often my posts will be but I'd like to start doing some more of the challenges that I used to do. I always found them to be a great way of inspiring me to do things that I wouldn't have ever thought of doing. So I'd like to start with a challenge that I found over at Flutter by Wednesday's. This also goes perfectly with the current challenge over at If The Shoe fits...Scrap It!
Their challenge this past week was to use a rainbow or a rainbow of colors along with a butterfly, fairy or angel. This was a bit challenging for me because I don't have a lot of girly images to work with since I have a 4 year old boy at home but this is what I came up with:
I hope you all enjoy it, I had a lot of fun putting this one together. It was a good re-starter for me. I found the image through a Google search here. I then colored in the image with a basic set of colored pencils and Gamsol. I cut it out using my exacto knife before adding stickles to give it some pop. I used an online box template that I found here and printed it on the back of CS that I liked. After assembling the box I started to play around with the position of the images and sentiment (which I colored with pastel chalks). When it came to putting on my fairy I used foam mounting tape to give her a little pop off the box and a ribbon handle to finish it off. I plan on using this as a birthday gift bag for a 3 year old girl next month. I hope she likes it! Thanks for taking a look!

Super sweet! I love how you created a birthday box with your fairy image. Using pastels is a great way to work in a lot of colors without being too bright - love the softness of your project too. :) Thanks for playing along with us at Flutterby Wednesday! Hope to see you there again!
