A productive Saturday

It's been a pretty relaxing Saturday here. I've been at home all week getting my craft on since my son is stuck at home with strep. Although it's a bit lonely and boring at times it's given me tons of free time to work on projects. Today I've got two finished projects to share with you. The first is a birthday shaker card that I made for a challenge over at Tiddly Inks Challenge Blog. This card also happens to go along with one of the challenges over at the Let's Scrap community. I really enjoyed making this card and can't wait to find a friend to give it to.

My inspiration for this card started with Bo, the cute little dog holding the balloons. For a project to be eligible for the challenge you must use one of Tiddly Inks images and luckily for me they provided a selection of free images so you don't have to spend money just to participate. Which is good when you're trying to craft on a budget. Since a shaker card uses transparency on it I decided to combine it with Challenge86 over at Let's Scrap which challenged us to use transparency as well as use one of their sketches. So this is what came of it!! After picking Bo I found some fun festive paper in my scraps which helped me determine the color palette. I colored Bo using my standard coloring pencils and Gamsol to give it a softer look. I printed out my sentiment (which I found for free here) on transparency and added some stickles on the back side to give it some color. I added some green glitter inside the shaker to give it a little sparkle.

My second project combines two challenges as well. The start inspiration was a color challenge over at Colour Create Challenge blog which had a fruit-tastic inspiration picture from which we had to choose three colors. I have a friend who is having a baby shower next month and decided that I wanted to make her a card with some of my challenges, so I went through all my digi images related to babies and decided on this precious bear. I thought he could fit well within the color challenge choosing Coconut (brown and white), Kiwi (green), and Strawberry (red). I then combined it with the sketch challenge over at Dutch Dare Card Challenge. I think it turned out really well and I can't wait to give my friend this card, I hope she likes it as much as I do!

Now with these two projects behind me I have moved onto the next and I am really excited about it! It has to do with purple and fairies and hopefully it will turn out beautiful! Be sure to keep an eye out for it! Thank for looking!
