Two birds with one stone!

This LO came about from two separate challenges. On the Simply Scrapping site there was a challenge to create a LO with one color photo and 2 or more black and white supporting photos. I immediately knew that I wanted to use photo's from Thomas 2 year Birthday shoot at the SPCA but I hadn't gotten around to figuring out how to do it. Then the gals at If The Shoe fits...Scrap It! put up their weekly color challenge which was black, white and red. I knew that a black background always looks fabulous with b/w photos so I knew this would work really well with the pictures. I really like the way it came out!

No Glue Challenge

This challenge was from the Scrapbook Challenges group at Cafe Mom. In this challenge you had to create and entire LO without using any type of adhesive (glue, glue dots, tape, etc.). I used stitching to attach all my elements except for the one brad on the page. I really enjoyed doing this LO and I think I'm going to do it again. For those of you who know me well, you know my other hobby is cross stitching so stitching on LO's brings my two favorites together.

"bling" challenge

This challenge was from the gals at Simply Scrapping. We were challenge to use "bling", meaning glitters, gems, and anything else sparkly. I didn't intend on this being for the bling challenge but once I started it kinda ended up that way.

some recent work

I did this one over the past weekend. I used a sketch from the Scrapbook Challenges group over at Cafe Mom. This was sketch #11, I rotated the sketch to fit my pictures.

This was a sketch from a site a found through google, but I didn't think to write down the site name and for the life of me can't find it again. But I really enjoyed doing this one.

This was a fun LO to do. I've had this star paper sitting around for a long time waiting for the perfect LO and it worked perfectly for these pictures. I used a sketch from the Scrapbook Challenges group on Cafe Mom again, this one is #8. I'm excited that I got to use my new bear in Pj's stamp. I found that at a scrapbook store in Williamsburg on clearance and just had to have and I'm glad I found use for it because it is just so darn cute!

I had a little difficulty doing this LO. I loved this picture of Thomas sitting next to the Ronald McDonald but didn't know what to do with it. I tried using a red background but it was just way to much red. So I decided to do a less is more approach but had a hard time getting enough but not to much so it balanced well. I eventually got it and I really like how it turned out.

Wednesday Challenge from If The Shoe fits...Scrap It! (3/25/09)

This was a card challenge from the gals over at If The Shoe fits...Scrap It!. We were challenged to create a card with at least two elements that were embossed. Luckily I have recently discovered embossing and have the tools needed for it. Unfortunately my paper embossing (a crimper like tool) didn't do a great job on the paper (orange) and it's hard to see it in the photo but it's a star pattern. I really like the way my sentiment came out. It's kinda speckled blue and white, I used a white ink to stamp and then a light blue embossing powder on top and the end result was cool and not expected at all. I think it turned out cute!

New Projects!!

Here are my latest projects. This first one was the Card Sketch Challenge from the Card Swappers and More group over at Cafe Mom. The sketch was vertical rather than horizontal but I had to flip it to fit my sentiments (which I got off a new Cricut cartridge that arrived in the mail today!!!!!). I really like the way it turned out and I'm going to send it to my hubby since he'll still be deployed during father's day.

This project was a sketch challenge from the Scrapbook Challenges group over at Cafe Mom, which I am now a new admin for!! Yay for me!!! We were given a sketch and told to use at least 4 patterned paper. I knew that Jumping Joey's pics would work nicely with so many different patterned papers because of the bright colors. It was really fun to do this one and that green paper with the holes is my new favorite paper!!!
This project wasn't from a challenge this was just to get it done. I was looking for a sketch to fit all my pictures but also allow the right sizes and I couldn't find any that I liked so I decided to do my own sketch. It was a little difficult to create the sketch and I'm hoping to find some type of software to do them on but I ended up just using word with squares which was kinda hard, especially with a two pager. Anywho, I'm really proud of this one and I love the way it turned out!!! I think lately orange is my favorite color to scrap with, surprising yes but the good thing about orange is that it goes really well with GREEN!

This project was just another one to get done not from a challenge. I have been trying to use the challenges to get all my scrapping done but I'm so far behind that I try to do one a day and there isn't always challenges the pertain to what I need to do. So this one was really fun I found the sketch for this one in Scrapbooks Etc. (not sure what issue i tear out the stuff I like and put it in a binder from now on I'll document what issue).

This was for a Punctuation Challenge on the Scrapbook Challenges group, we were to use punctuation in our title. I used the @ sign as my punctuation. I got this sketch from Scrapbooks Etc. as well (don't know what issue). I like the way it turned out but it's not one of my favorites.

Color Challenge

This is my LO for "The Fab Friday Color Challenge!" from the gals over at If The Shoe fits...Scrap It! I really liked this color combination very elegant however I was worried about what I was going to do with it. I've been making a lot of cards lately with no purpose other than challenges and they are piling up so I knew I wanted to do a LO. I was worried these colors wouldn't fit with any of the pictures I had. I have a boy and the majority of his pictures are colorful and lively. However, I found these picture of him and a friend feeding geese in the park and the colors are very neutral and not loud at all and I found the perfect LO sketch to use with them. I used a sketch from the Scrapbooks Etc. magazine again (Sassy Girl). I changed it a bit from the original sketch and love the way it turned out. The only problem is that the black card stock down the middle is textured and doesn't show it's true "blackness" in the picture.

Some recent work

Here are a couple of pages I finished yesterday. These weren't for anything in particular just to get some of the pictures scrapped that I needed to do. This first was was inspired by a sketch from the Scrapbook Challenges group on Cafe Mom (sketch #1). I'm really happy with the way it turned out.

This LO was inspired by a sketch I got out of Scrapbooks Etc. magazine. I turned the LO to fit my pictures, normally they go along the top of the page. This was our first trip to the Virginia Living Museum and I love all the turtles I used on here. This was a fun one to do and I love how it turned out.

This LO was inspired by a sketch from the blog Sketches! by {tamara} (sketch #57). I changed it a little to please my eye a little better with the materials I was working with. This still needs a title but I haven't gotten around to cutting the letters yet. I think the title will be Bubble Bath but I'm not sure that it will fit well or not. I'm going to have to play around with it.

Flower Inspiration Challenge 3/16-3/21

This is the weekly flower inspiration challenge from the Card Swappers & More group on Cafe Mom. The only requirements were that we had to use and odd colored rose like yellow, purple and black. I really wanted to use a purple rose but didn't find any I liked and I also couldn't find a purple ribbon I liked to make a rose myself. I did find some lovely yellow roses so I chose those and I really wanted to keep the purple and yellow and purple look really pretty together so I started with that. I had no idea what picture I was going to use but I found the perfect one. Hope you enjoy!

Catching up

So I just needed to catch up on some things I've been doing. This first one was a card sketch challenge from the Card Swappers & More group on Cafe Mom. The card had to be square and it had to be baby themed. I'm not sure I love it but I think it's cute and it was fun to make.

My Card

This next one was the technique challenge from the Card Swappers & More group on Cafe Mom. We were to use dryer sheets. There were three different ways we could use it. We could use it like a type of mulberry paper after dying it, or we could stamp and image on it and use it as a layer, or we could put glue on the back of the dryer sheet and layer it over a stamped image then sprinkle glitter on it and the glitter is supposed to stick through the holes of the dryer sheet. I did the last one. I'm not quite happy with the way the glitter looks, I wished it had been more spread out but it's good for a first attempt. I also stamped on the dryer sheet. Once the dryer sheet was over the stamped image with the glitter the image kinda looked washed so i stamped again over the top just to define it more. I think the card is cute. This was fun.

This was a LO Sketch from the ScrapNMoms group on Cafe Mom. It was a circle LO, which I've never done before but was excited to try. I don't have a large circle cutter so I got my biggest bowl and traced it then cut out my circle. It was the be a LO about us using our favorite color. For those of you who know me well, circles and green are my favorite things and put together I LOVE it! So here it is, it took me a while to find some decent pictures I wanted to use but once I did I knew where to go from there.

ATC Challenge

This was an ATC (artist trading card) challenge by the gals at If the Shoe Fits...Scrap It! We were to make a St. Patrick's day themed ATC. This was my very first ATC ever and I was a little nervous because I've seen some really great ones and I wanted mine to at least not be terrible. I think it turned out pretty good. Enjoy!

Challenge #5 from simply scrapping

This challenge was a self portrait challenge from simply scrapping. You had to scrap a picture of yourself and including journaling about yourself on the page. I also decided to use one of the sketches from the site as well. Below is the sketch and then my LO. Enjoy!

Color Challenge

This was the color challenge from the gals over at If the Shoe Fits...Scrap It! The only guidelines were to use these three colors. I found it a little difficult to find the write combination of elements but I think it turned out well. Enjoy!

Fall Layouts & Riddle Challenge

I was working on some challenges in some of my Cafe Mom groups and one of them was a riddle challenge where we had to use riddles in our layout. I had found some really cute riddles about pumpkins online and knew that I wanted to put them with pictures we took last October at the pumpkin patch. So I decided to work on that and came up with two 2 page LO's for last fall and I think they turned out great. Hope you enjoy.

The "White Space" Challenge

This challenge comes from the gals over at If the Shoe Fits...Scrap It! This was a new challenge in their challenge forum and the goal was to leave as much "white space" on the page as possible but also having at lest one photo, journaling a title and some embelishments! So here is my take on it. Honestly one of the fastest LO's ever!!

Sketch Challenge

This was a sketch #8 from the gals at Simply Scrapping (http://simplyscrapping.ning.com/).
I wasn't sure if I was going to like this sketch or not but I ended up loving it! I was really happy with how my LO came out. I used a great new paper I found at a local Scrapbooking Store and I didn't want to cover it up with a big piece of paper down the center so I used vellum and tinted it with yellow ink. I found a pattern of a bird online and used it to cut out my bird. I'm quite happy with the outcome. Enjoy!

Card Challenge Wednesday!

This challenge comes from the gals at If The Shoe fits...Scrap It! This card challenge was "All About Friendship" and had to have the word friend or friendship on it somewhere. The only other requirement is that there had to be yellow on the card somewhere. Here is my rendition, the yellow is the patterned paper.
